JOINING THE CELEBRATION FOR THE ELDERLY FILIPINO WEEK Proclamation No. 470, issued by then-President Fidel Ramos on September 26, 1994 declared the first week of October of every year as Elderly Filipino Week, this is to show gratitude to the contributions our senior citizens have made for the development and progress of our country. The Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division as the implementing Division of the City Mayor’s Office for the “Pakaon ni Mayor Program” joined in the celebration of the 2023 Elderly Filipino Week, organized by the National Commission of Senior Citizens, held at People’s Park. Fully equipped with safe and sanitary gear, such as face masks, hairnet and gloves, the BCCAD team served three (3) pots of Congee or “Lugaw” or more or less four fifty (450) bowls of Lugaw, enjoyed by our beloved Elderlies. This week let us show our love and gratitude to our “Lolo’s” and “Lola’s”, by pampering them and giving them the love, they deserve.
