October 16, 2023In celebration of the Construction Workers Day, Davao Light and Power Corporation in partnership with the CMO-BCCAD conducted the Workers Day 2023 last October 14, 2023. The event was entitled, “CONSTRUCTION WORKERS DAY 2023: Enhancing Electrical Safety Awareness to Reduce Public Electrocution Cases.” HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT: • Barangays that participated in the event, were: 1. Brgy, Agdao Proper, 2. Brgy. Wilfredo Aquino, 3. Brgy Vicente Duterte, 4. Brgy. Tomas Monteverde 5. Brgy. Paciano Bangoy • Host Barangay was Brgy. Paciano Bangoy • More or less 100 participants, (20 from each barangay) attended the event • The aim of the event is to educate construction workers with regards to the danger of performing construction works near the power lines of Davao Light. • Safety Awareness regarding public electrocution was also discussed. • Participants were also given free safety vest during the event. • The first 3 early birds to arrive at the event was given a special prize of construction tools. • Games such as Safety Pera o Bayong was conducted. • Free snacks were also served during the event. • Opening remarks was given by BCCAD OIC, Mr. Julius Villafuerte and Closing remarks was given by DLPC COO, Mr. Rodger Velasco. October 5, 2023Due to an alarming increase of dengue cases in the city, the City Health Office in coordination with CMO BCCAD called for an orientation regarding the City Ordinance entitled “Strengthening and Institutionalizing the Davao City Mosquito Borne Disease Protection and Control Program”, last October 5, 2023.
Highlights of the Event:
• Presentation of the new Ordinance entitled an “Ordinance Strengthening and Institutionalizing the Davao City Mosquito-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program”.
• Role of the barangay and its official in the eradication and decrease of mosquito borne diseases mortality.
• The need for the creation of the Barangay Mosquito Borne Diseases Task Force and its component.
• Presentation of the Davao City Dengue status from January to September 2023, wherein it was shown that there is an alarming increase of dengue cases in the city.
• Dengue hot spot barangays.
The said event is the first part of the many orientations, seminars and community empowerment that the city, through the City Health Office, will conduct in order to fight and eventually eradicate mosquito borne diseases in the city. [...]

October 3, 2023JOINING THE CELEBRATION FOR THE ELDERLY FILIPINO WEEK Proclamation No. 470, issued by then-President Fidel Ramos on September 26, 1994 declared the first week of October of every year as Elderly Filipino Week, this is to show gratitude to the contributions our senior citizens have made for the development and progress of our country. The Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division as the implementing Division of the City Mayor’s Office for the “Pakaon ni Mayor Program” joined in the celebration of the 2023 Elderly Filipino Week, organized by the National Commission of Senior Citizens, held at People’s Park. Fully equipped with safe and sanitary gear, such as face masks, hairnet and gloves, the BCCAD team served three (3) pots of Congee or “Lugaw” or more or less four fifty (450) bowls of Lugaw, enjoyed by our beloved Elderlies. This week let us show our love and gratitude to our “Lolo’s” and “Lola’s”, by pampering them and giving them the love, they deserve. [...]
